A GoFundMe fundraiser has been established to help Jason Downey and his family.

Downey, a former admissions director and baseball coach for Holy Spirit High School and the husband of Holy Spirit's girls' soccer coach, suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm over the weekend, according to a Facebook post from Holy Spirit High School.

The GoFundMe page says that Downey was taken to the hospital over the weekend and then rushed into surgery.

He is currently in the ICU where he will remain for at least a couple of weeks. He is stable, but the coming days are critical.

The GoFundMe is to help with support of his wife Alicia and their three children Payton, Christian and Taya in the difficult situation they face.

The GoFundMe organizer says that the original goal of the campaign was raised in only a few hours, so the amount was raised to better help the family financially.

As of 11:30 am Monday, there had been 332 donations in the amount of $30,774 with a new goal of $40,000.

In addition to his work as an admissions director, Jason Downey had been the coach of the Holy Spirit Boys' Baseball team from 2017-2019 after serving as an assistant coach from 2014-2016.

When he resigned as coach, Downey said he had taken another job offer that was better suited for his family as they prepared for the birth of their third child.
