Summer may still be a little ways off, but as the old adage goes, it's summertime somewhere. Alright, so that's not exactly how that saying goes, but it is still accurate. Even if the temperature outside doesn't feel like summer, you can make it feel like summer in your home. I refuse to have a "winter wardrobe" and a "summer wardrobe," I wear sweaters with shorts and a lot of short sleeve shirts and ripped jeans in the winter. Yes, I am the person who wears UGGs with shorts.

Without wearing shorts and flip-flops all year round, there are ways to make it feel like summer even when it isn't. Not judging those who do that, I wish I had the internal temperature to do that without being miserable.

One of the worst things about winter is that we have shorter days. The lack of sunlight is just depressing. How can you combat this? A sunrise alarm clock is a great way to simulate an earlier sunrise.

Another great way to make it feel brighter in your home sans sunlight are LED daylight light bulbs. I have these in my room and they make the room so bright and lovely. It's also nice that LED bulbs don't get hot. I hate warm yellow light bulbs.

Many people switch out their candles with the season. I, however, do not subscribe to this practice. If a candle smells good in the summer, it will still smell good in the winter. If you normally use warm and bold scented candles in the winter, switch them out for light and fresh candles. These scents will help it feel more like summer.

I found that candle while scrolling through Target's website and now I want it so bad. Here are a few more options:

I clearly am drawn to "water" scents.

You can do the same with your oil diffuser if you have one at home.

My favorite oil blend has rosemary, lavender, and orange which smells very fresh and light.

You could always paint an accent wall or an entire room yellow, which if you've seen the movie Safe Haven you know that yellow is a happy color and that it's the color of the sun.

However, wallpaper is back in and this is not your grandma's wallpaper. Using wallpaper on an accent wall can transform a room and one like this can make it feel summery and tropical.

If you don't want to make changes to your home, you can always just down a few tropical drinks to get you in that summertime feeling.
