Smarty Pants! NJ’s Schools Have Ranked Third Best In The Entire Country
Say what you want about New Jersey, outsiders! The one thing you can never call us is stupid.
According to a new study, we're actually pretty smart! In fact, New Jersey was just ranked as the third best state in the good ole' U-S of A for our school systems. A communications manager for WalletHub, Diana Polk, explained to us which metrics were examined to come to this conclusion. She said that they compared all 50 states and Washington D.C. across 32 key measures of quality and safety. Everything from test scores, student-teacher ratios, and dropout rates were taken into consideration.
When taking a closer look at specific metrics, New Jersey ranks near the top in almost every category besides the percentage of threatened and injured high school students. That's a good thing, since we obviously don't want our kids getting injured at school. Take a look at how we measured up:
Quality & Safety of Schools in New Jersey (1=Best; 25=Avg.):
- 3rd – Math Test Scores
- 2nd – Reading Test Scores
- 2nd – Pupil-Teacher Ratio
- 27th – Median SAT Score
- 8th – Median ACT Score
- 4th – Dropout Rate
- 12th – Bullying Incidence Rate
- 24th – % of Threatened/Injured High School Students
- 1st – Existence of Digital Learning Plan
Just another great statistic we can throw at our haters! Just kidding. It is, however, AWESOME to hear that our education system is one of the best in the nation. It's not surprising, though. We sure do have some amazing teachers in this state, so shout-out to all of our teachers that give their hearts and souls to their students. Keep doing your thing, teachers! Whatever you're doing, it shows.
