FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP (Gloucester) — A Vineland man was sentenced Friday to eight years in prison for raping a girl.

Kenny Sotomayor, 52, pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault of a child who was under 13 years old.

The victim revealed the years-long abuse when she was 12 years old.

An evaluation deemed Sotomayor to be a repetitive but not a compulsive sex offender, meaning he will not serve his sentence at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center for sex offenders in the Avenel section of Woodbridge. However, he will receive therapy behind bars.

After his release, he will be under parole supervision for 15 years and will have to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law.

He must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
