Let's hope not too many people read this article so the secret doesn't get out. Hopefully my bosses don't read that sentence.

I grew up on the beach. It didn't matter if there was a cool breeze, drizzling, or if it was cloudy; we were on the beach. However, we would spend our mornings doing a variety of activities (swim lessons, VBS, and various sports), which meant beach time was reserved for the afternoons. This turned out to be the best case scenario.

To this day I do my best to go to the beach after 2 PM. Trust me, it's the best time to go. Yes, I understand some people prefer to go when it's low tide, but the reasons behind going later supersede the tides.

    There is usually less people.

Most people try to hit the beach ASAP. The beaches get packed in the morning, especially on the weekends. Island Beach State Park in Seaside Park usually closes around 11 AM and reopens at around 1 PM because it gets full from morning beach goers during the weekend.

You can still get stuff done during the day.

When I get home from the beach I just want to relax and do nothing. I like to use my mornings to get things done and then reward myself with an afternoon on the beach.

    There are less tourists.

I'm not saying tourists are bad or that none of them come to the beach after 2 PM. However, people like local's summer for a reason. More people who are just visiting go to the beach earlier, it's just a scientific fact that I came up with all by myself.

    The morning coolness has left.

Even in the summer, there can be a chill to the morning air. I don't know about you, but I don't want to go to the beach if it's still a little cool out.
