VIDEO: South Jersey’s Anderson Gets Sack in NFL Hall of Fame Game
The first NFL Preseason game of 2021 was on Thursday Night and the Pittsburgh Steelers won 16-3 over the Dallas Cowboys. The game hosted in Canton, Ohio in conjunction with the Pro Football Hall of Fame Weekend Ceremony, featured a Sack by South Jersey's own Abdullah Anderson on a big hit to the infamous Cowboys Quarterback Ben DiNucci:
Anderson is a graduate from Absegami High School where he was a star performer in Football and Basketball. He attended college at Bucknell where he earned his degree in Economics and in 43 games played he compiled 33.5 Tackles for Loss along with 96 Solo Tackles and 15.5 Sacks. He was the 2017 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-Patriot League First Team selection.
Anderson spent the 2019 NFL season with the Chicago Bears where he appeared in six games in which he tallied One Sack and Three Quarterback Hurries along with Three Solo Tackles. In the chaotic 2020 season, Anderson switched NFC North teams spending most of the year with the Minnesota Vikings Practice Squad. The Steelers signed Anderson back in April of this year.
Anderson has great athletes in his family including his Cousin 2016 NFL Draft Second Round Selection Austin Johnson who is a graduate of Saint Augustine Prep and another Cousin Holy Spirit High School Graduate Gina Lewis who played College Basketball at Kutztown University.
It's always great to see a local South Jersey Athlete have any success in the Professional Ranks and earn opportunities to pursue their dreams. We know Abdullah Anderson has flashed at Training Camp and making an impact in the Steelers first preseason game can be one of the keys to getting coaches attention. There are several South Jersey Athletes who will be playing in the NFL this upcoming season and hopefully, Anderson will be among that group for the 2021 season.
