Wildwood Police Bust Rio Grande Woman for Drugs
A traffic stop in Wildwood Thursday night yielded a number of different drugs, a gun, and more.
Wildwood Police say they made the traffic stop on New Jersey Avenue, just after 8:30pm Thursday. According to police, "During the course of the stop, the driver of the vehicle, Denise Daehling, 34, of Rio Grande, was found to be in possession of Xanax, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and distribution quantities of marijuana. Daehling was placed under arrest at this time."
There's more. A 17-year-old boy from Somers Point, who was in the vehicle, was found to be in possession of a .32 caliber handgun.
There's even more. A 4-year-old child in the car was taken to police headquarters.
When all was said and done, Daehling was charged with "Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute (3rd degree), Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute within 1,000 feet of a School (3rd degree), Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Distribute within 500 of a Certain Public Place (2nd degree), Possession of Xanax (3rd degree), Possession of Cocaine (3rd degree), Possession of Heroin (3rd degree), Possession of Marijuana (disorderly persons offense), and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2nd degree)." She was released pending a court date.
The 17-year-old was "charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (2nd degree) and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose (2nd degree). This charge was placed on a juvenile complaint and the 17-year-old was released to a guardian."
Finally, police say the 4-year-old was turned over to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DC&P) until the investigation can be completed.
