You Can No Longer Dedicate a Bench For Someone In Ocean City NJ
You're going to have to find a different way to remember Nana and Pop-pop.
Ocean City says it's done with the bench dedication program.
For years people have been able to purchase plaques to go on the hundreds of benches situated all along the world famous Ocean City Boardwalk. Families near and far have used the bench plaques as memorials to loved ones and to recognize important life milestones.
But, sadly, that's done. Kaput. No more.
On the city's website, if you're looking to dedicate a plaque, you'll find this message:
"Thank you for your inquiry regarding our dedication and memorial programs. Due to overwhelming demand, our Boardwalk Bench Program and waiting list are now closed."
Aw, shucks!
Instead, the city reminds you that you can remember your loved ones in other ways, including pavers at Veteran's Memorial Park, a Surf Chair Program, and even via a special program with the Ocean City Humane Society.
Honestly, though, it's not the same, is it?
Millions of people visit Ocean City each and every summer - they visit the Boardwalk. They see those plaques. No offense, but I don't know if I've ever been to the Memorial Park or the Humane Society. The surf chair program? Probably something cool, but I don't know what it is...
See, this is what happens when we have nice things. Everybody loves it!
Below is a look at some of the dedications found on some of those Ocean City Boardwalk benches.
