A Camden County man who admitted to trying to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex will not be spending any time behind bars but he is not completely off of the hook for his actions.

36-year-old Jason McCann of Blackwood pleaded guilty earlier this year to a third-degree attempt to commit endangering the welfare of a child–impairing or debauching the morals of a child charge in exchange for three years behind bars, however, a judge instead sentenced him to parole supervision for life.

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina says,

"The investigation into McCann began in July 2020 after he used an instant messaging app to arrange a rendezvous [at a park in Bordentown Township] and send pictures of his genitals and videos of himself masturbating to someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl. In reality, the person he was communicating with was a Special Agent with United States Homeland Security Investigations."

In addition to parole, McCann must register as a sex offender in New Jersey.
