Bridgeton Man Charged With 2018 Murder in Millville

Cumberland County authorities have charged a 27-year-old Bridgeton man with murder in connection with a 2018 shooting.

Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae says the shooting occurred on April 7, 2018. At 1:15am, Millville Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Railroad Avenue and Fourth Street. It was in that area that police located Akil K. Hasan, 29, of Penns Grove. Hasan was suffering from several gunshot wounds. Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Now, a joint investigation by Cumberland County Prosecutor' Office and Millville Police has resulted in charges against Allen M. Williams, 27 of Bridgeton. Williams faces a number of charges including first degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing. A news release has not indicated if Williams is in custody.
