Ash Wednesday happened this week which signifies the start of the Christian season of Lent. Lent is the time during which Christians choose to examine their souls in preparation for Easter Sunday.

6ABC reports that in an effort to honor the season, Chick-fil-A has added fish filet sandwiches and fish sticks to their menu. These additions happened in order to accommodate those abstaining from meat. Chick-fil-A has never shied away from speaking about their Christian foundation, so it's not really that shocking to hear about these new additions.

If you're still asking why fish, that's because it's a tradition for certain denominations of Christianity to abstain from meat for the forty-day season, especially on Fridays.

The new menu items will be available through April 20th.
