A Camden resident has been charged in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in the city earlier this month.

31-year-old Raymond Ashley has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and one count of second-degree certain persons.

Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill Mayer says in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 22nd, police responded to a ShotSpotter alert on South Octagon Road in Camden. When they arrived, they found 21-year-old Isaiah Taylor suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

An investigation revealed Ashley was the person who allegedly shot Taylor. He was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force on Friday and taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility to await a detention hearing.

All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
