Restaurant Review: Martorano’s at Harrah’s in Atlantic City

I finally got a chance to try this fun new restaurant in Atlantic City!

Martorano's opened this past summer and it has been packed since the doors opened!

Steve Martorano, the owner, grew up in South Philadelphia and owns restaurants in Florida and Las Vegas.  The restaurant is stunning on the inside, decorated with a black and white theme.  But the best part are the classic movies that play on a loop on the TV's - - movies like 'The Godfather,' 'Goodfellas' and 'A Bronx Tale.'

Even better than the decor, is the food.  My husband and I tried a variety of different dishes.

We started with the bread.  Delicious with the olive oil, cheese and hot pepper for dipping.

Next up was the meatball.  Martorano's boats that they have the best meatballs in the world.  Now.... my Italian mother in law makes the best meatballs in the world... However, Martorano's are a VERY close second. And it's huge, perfect to split with another person for a nice appetizer.  It's served with a salad and ricotta cheese.

But we didn't stop there with appetizers...  I consider myself somewhat of a calamari connoisseur.  I will typically order the dish if I see it on a menu.  So, we ordered the Calamari Bibzy.  This was the best calamari I've ever had in my life.  No exaggeration.  It was unbelievable.  Not classic calamari, fried and served with marinara, but fried and tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce.

I just found out that this recipe is included in Steve Martorano's new cookbook, 'It Ain't Sauce, It's Gravy: Macaroni, Homestyle Cheesesteaks, the Best Meatballs in the World, and How Food Saved My Life.'  I've put the cookbook on my Christmas list :)

Moving on to our main dishes....  My husband had one of the specials of the night, a pork cutlet with mushrooms.  It was really tasty.

However, I win for ordering the best dish of the night.  Yep, even better than the calamari is the Pasta Carbonara.  I don't want to know how bad for me it is...  All I want to know is when I can eat it again.  And again.  And I heard that this recipe may be in the cookbook, too...

We also tried Martorano's own wine, it complimented the delicious food quite well!  Everything we ate at Martorano's was awesome.  I can't wait to try it again soon!
