Just when we all thought all the event cancellations were over. Spoke too soon, it seems.

Unfortunately for the folks in Cumberland County, the beloved annual Cumberland County Fair has been called off for the second year in a row due to complications surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. "But, Jahna," you ask, "I thought we were passed all that?" Well, according to a recent article published by the Vineland Daily Journal, it seems as though there just isn't enough time for the team to get everything together.

Bummer, I know.

Basically, it sounds like there are too many pieces that would have to come together in order to pull off the fair within the next couple months. Sadly, with the budget and time left before the fair would usually have been hosted, there's nothing anyone can do to make it happen successfully at this point. The Journal did say that one the directors from the Cumberland County Commissioners did confirm that there will, indeed, be a fair during the warmer months of 2022.

While that's not exactly the kind of news residents wanted to hear this year, at least the festival isn't postponed indefinitely. It would be a real tragedy if the powers-that-be had no plans of bringing the fair back at all. The people of Cumberland County LOVE the fair. I say that from experience since I grew up going to both the Gloucester and Cumberland County 4-H Fairs every year. In fact, I even went up to and including 2019.

This isn't a wave goodbye to Cumberland's annual fair, it's just a "see ya soon."
