Southbound Parkway Exit 88 in Ocean County Permanently Closes

Heads-up if you drive on the Garden State Parkway in Ocean County -- a very busy exit has permanently closed.

Last night, Exit 88 for Route 70 on the southbound side of the Garden State Parkway in Lakewood closed for good. The closure is part of a $330 million improvement project that is adding travel lanes, widening shoulders, and adding interchanges in southern Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Signs have been posted alerting drivers that they need to use Exit 89 to access Route 70. A new traffic signal has been installed there to control the heavier volume of traffic.
