Authorities in Camden County now say the boyfriend of a woman who was found dead inside her Camden home Monday morning has been charged in her death.

Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez say 28-year-old Edwin Zavaleta of Camden has been charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of fourth-degree tampering with evidence.

On Monday, cops responded to their home in the 1000 block of South 6th St. in Camden for a report of an unresponsive woman. Arriving officers found 25-year-old Tonia Yamileth Zavaleta dead in an upstairs bedroom.

On Tuesday, the Camden County Medical Examiner determined Zavaleta’s manner of death was homicide by a stab wound and blunt force trauma to the neck.
