If you're going to (allegedly) steal a motorcycle from a local dealer, it's probably best not to buzz around town on that vehicle in a manner that would draw attention to yourself.
Police in Vineland investigated a smash and grab robbery at Lilliston Honda back on October 2nd. Someone had backed a vehicle into the front of the building, loaded a dirt bike from the showroom floor onto the vehicle, and drove away.
A couple months later, on December 18th, officers were called out to Cumberland Mall to investigate a person riding a dirt bike on mall property.
They found Guillermo Veloz-Evangelista, 22, and quickly discovered he was riding the bike stolen from Lilliston Honda.
According to Vineland Police Lt. Steven Triantos, "He was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and receiving stolen property. Detectives then executed a search warrant at Veloz-Evangelista’s residence where they recovered an assault rifle and a large capacity magazine. Veloz-Evangelista was additionally charged with possessing a machine gun and a large capacity magazine along with endangering the welfare of a child."
Veloz-Evangelista was lodged in the Cumberland County Jail.
