We have finally made it to Spring and can air out the house after being closed up all winter long.

Here are some hacks to get your house clean in no time.

Use vinegar on glass shower doors.

Of course go for the white vinegar or you might make your bathroom look like the scene from Psycho. Some aquariums use vinegar to help get rid of stubborn water spots. So why not give it a try at your own home?

Use that dishwasher for more than just dishes.

Pop your sponge into the dishwasher to disinfect it. (You can also wet it and put it in the microwave for a minute.) Your kids plastic toys can collect a lot of bacteria so run them through the dishwasher to make them squeaky clean.

Take everything out of your closet to downsize.

How many times have you looked in the closet thinking I have nothing to wear? All while your closet is stuffed and you cannot fit another pair of jeans in there. It’s hard to really go through all of your clothes while they are stuffed in the closet. Take them out and really think of the last time you’ve worn it. If you don’t want to take everything out at once, do it in sections. Do your jeans first, then work clothes, jackets, and so on.

Use soda tabs or store hangers to better organize your clothes and save space.

You can save a ton of space in your closet by cascading your clothes. That means more room for all of this Spring’s trends. Use soda tabs to attach one hanger to another. Did you know that a lot of store hangers that have metal hooks have a spot on the bottom to hook another hanger? No? Well, I just discovered this and it’s been a space saver.

Shoe boxes make great drawer organizers.

That underwear and sock drawer can get a bit unruly. Use shoe boxes to keep everything in sections in your drawer. You can also cut up the cardboard boxes from your latest online shopping spree to make dividers.

    Tackle that junk drawer.

The dreaded junk drawer, where the most random items go to die. You probably have some Tupperware containers that are missing their lids. Use them to organize your junk drawer. Maybe you’ll find that business card you lost last July.

Use TV commercials to your advantage.

Maybe it’s just me, but when I get home I turn on the TV and get absolutely nothing done. You can use the commercials during your favorite show to your advantage. You know those posts you see about working out during a TV show? This is like that, but with cleaning. When the commercials come on vacuum the room you’re in, wipe down all of the mirrors, or dust and polish a few pieces of furniture. You’ll be amazed how much you can get done.

Soda has many more uses than just pairing with pizza.

Grab that bottle of Coke from last night’s pizza and dump it down the toilet. No, no, no, not to get rid of it all. It makes a great toilet bowl cleaner. Pour it in the toilet let it sit for a little while, then just flush. Easy right? Coke also is great for cleaning rust and grease off of stubborn pots, pans, and other kitchen items.

Baking soda is your make my house smell like it hasn’t been closed up all winter best friend.

Seriously, baking soda is great. Put a box in the fridge to get rid of the smell from the leftovers you forgot were in the back of the fridge. Sprinkle some on the dog’s bed let it sit for an hour or two then vacuum it right off. You can do this for your couch, carpet, or anything else that’s difficult to clean.

Lemon juice is a Holy Grail product.

The list of uses for cleaning with lemon juice is almost endless. You can put some in a pot or tea kettle and let it boil. Just wipe it out after and they will be sparkling bright again. You can also use it to clean water marks off of your faucets. Stinky garbage disposal? Put a few pieces of lemon peel down the drain and turn on the garbage disposal. It will be smelling lemony fresh in no time.
