Galloway Township Police say they arrested two teens after being made aware of social media threats early Thursday morning concerning Absegami High School.

Police say their officers and Absegami staff moved quickly once they identified the 16-year-old who made a questionable post on social media. They were able to find and arrest the boy before the start of school Thursday morning. They say no weapons were involved and there was no physical threat.

Once they had that teen in custody, police became aware of another 16-year-old boy who was involved. He was also arrested.

Police say both were charged with creating a false alarm and released to the custody of their parent, pending a court appearance.

Galloway Township Police made this statement:

The Galloway Township Police Department would like to thank the students and parents who reported this incident as well as the Absegami High School staff who assisted in identifying the juveniles, as their actions were integral to mitigating the alarm caused by the social media posts.
