2 Millville men learned you can run from the Wildwood Police, but you can't hide - not for long anyway.

Wildwood Police say officers were performing a traffic stop of a car on New Jersey Avenue on Tuesday. As a police officer approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated and fled the area.

The officer attempted to safely pursue the vehicle, but the pursuit was called off for safety reasons.

Police say the vehicle was later spotted within the city limits, and the driver and passenger were taken into custody:

Sage Jones, 21-year-old, unemployed laborer, currently residing in Millville, New Jersey and Angel Marrero, 20-year-old unemployed factory worker, currently residing in Millville, New Jersey, were arrested in connection to the investigation. Moreover, during the investigation, a Taurus 9 millimeter handgun was recovered.

Police say Jones was charged with: "Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (a crime of the second degree), Obstruction (a crime of the fourth degree), Resisting Arrest (a crime of the fourth degree) and Conspiracy (a crime of the second degree)." Marrero was charged with: "Eluding (a crime of the second degree), Conspiracy (a crime of the second degree), Hindering Apprehension 2-counts, (crimes of the third degree)."

Both were booked into the Cape May County Jail.
