Oh, Spirit Airlines, I Still Love You!

I've had to sit on a plane on a tarmac for hours. I've had to switch planes. I've had to get off a plane only to get back on the same plane later. I've been delayed. I've left early.

Spirit Airlines has never canceled on me. They always got me where I had to go on the day I wanted to get there.

I've always been Spirit Airlines' biggest fan and supporter. (And a pretty good customer!)

Over 50 flights over 20 years, they always got me there.

Often, I splurged and sat in a big front seat. Sometimes I flew cramped and folded up in a middle seat. I've flown with family members and friends. I've flown alone.

I've checked luggage, carried on bags. even flown with no bags or luggage.

Spirit Airlines always got me there.

It was always others that were bumped, delayed, left to die in the terminal. (That's a joke.)

Until this weekend.

I was planning a quick trip to Florida. Really quick. 26 hours on the ground. Then back home. It's my mom's 81st birthday, and my plans were to fly in and take her out to dinner to celebrate. My flight was leaving Saturday morning at 5 am, and I was returning home Sunday at 9 am.

But it didn't happen.

The night before I received this message from Spirit Airlines: "Your flight has been cancelled."

Oh, Spirit, I thought we had a good thing going!

I will give Spirit credit - they did email me within a few hours with options. My problem was that my trip was only planned for 24 hours, so I really didn't have options that worked for me.

I  ended up canceling and submitting for a full refund.  That was late Friday night. The money has been refunded back to my checking account by Monday morning. That was actually pretty quick!

I hate you Spirit Airlines!  But, I still love you, and I will give you another chance. Let's start another win streak, ok?
