Apparent Medical Condition Causes Head-On Crash on Route 47 in Middle Township
This could have ended a lot worse: a man suffering from an apparent medical condition was injured in a head-on crash on Route 47 in Middle Township Thursday evening.
Middle Township Police say they received a call about an erratic driver on Route 47 around 5:15 Thursday evening. Responding officers found a car traveling southbound on Route 47 on the wrong side of the road. Attempts to stop the car by police did not work.
Police say the car sideswiped a vehicle in the area of Springers Mill Road and then struck another vehicle near a local restaurant. The car then struck a third car, this time head-on near Indian Trail.
Once the car stopped, officers say the 56-year-old driver was suffering from an unknown medical condition. The driver, who was not identified in a press release, was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment.
This certainly could have ended a lot worse as police say the only injury reported at the time of the incident was a minor leg injury to the 56-year-old driver. The accident remains under investigation.
