Atlantic City Worker Thwarts Attempt to Carjack City Vehicle
All heroes don't wear badges. An Atlantic City public service employee is a hero after stopping a man from carjacking his work vehicle.
Atlantic City Police say the unidentified 52-year-old worker was picking up trash on Florida Avenue near the Boardwalk Saturday morning when a man jumped into his truck and tried to drive off. The city employee managed to pull the man from the truck. The man, pushed the city worker to the ground and fled the scene.
Police spotted the suspect 90 minutes later and arrested him. Surveillance Center camera work was used to confirm the man in question was involved in the altercation.
Police say Deandre Watson, 22, of Brooklyn, New York was charged with robbery, carjacking, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He's being held in the Atlantic County Jail.
