It was long believed that a dog's bond with a human has no comparison.

New studies show that this might not actually be the case. BoredPanda.com recently published an article that reveals new findings that show cats can form the same strong bonds with their owners that dogs do. In fact, the studies demonstrate the idea that cats can form a bond so strong that they associate their owners as their parents.

Apparently, the reason for the misconception is due to cats' quirky personality traits. For example, they often seem disengaged or uninterested in your presence, but if you're a cat owner, you know that they can be attached at your hip just as often as they want to be left alone. The problem is they're not as needy as dogs, so it's easy to think that they just want nothing to do with you. As it turns out, that couldn't be further from the truth.
