An investigation in Cape May County has led to the arrest of a Villas man on heroin distribution and weapons charges.

The several month investigation ended with the arrest of Gonzalo Gonzalez, 27.

Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Chief of Detectives Paul Skill announced the arrest following a raid of a storage unit in Burleigh, Middle Township.

On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, a Superior Court search warrant was executed on a storage unit in the 600 block of Shunpike Road, in the Burleigh section of Middle Township. As a result of this search, approximately 1,400 individual bags of heroin were seized. This amount of heroin has a potential street value of $14,000. Also seized as a result of the search warrant were drug manufacturing materials, an AR15 style rifle and two fully loaded 30 round magazines.

Gonzalez is facing numerous charges, and, if found guilty, could face several years in state prison.
