The fire that devastated Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was a shock to the entire world.

Everyone was affected by the sight, whether emotionally or otherwise. People started donating as soon as they could to the restoration efforts, including big corporations. Disney has announced a pledge of $5 million dollars to help repair Notre Dame.

The Walt Disney Company put out a press release earlier this week including a statement from the Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger that reads

"Notre-Dame is a beacon of hope and beauty that has defined the heart of Paris and the soul of France for centuries, inspiring awe and reverence for its art and architecture and for its enduring place in human history."

So far, through various donations from businesses and private philanthropic efforts, a reported $1 billion has been raised to help restore the famed cathedral to its previous state of glory. The owners of L'Oreal alone have pledged $226 million.
