It's been quite a year for the Rutgers baseball program.

The Scarlet Knights are the hottest team in the county winning their 15th straight game on Sunday behind the bat of Egg Harbor Twp. high school alum, Jordan Sweeney.

For the second straight day, Sweeney had the game-winning hit for Rutgers, hitting a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the ninth on Easter Sunday and a base clearing triple on Saturday to give the Scarlet Knights a pair of wins.

On the season, Sweeney is hitting .280 with five home runs and 23 RBIs for the Scarlet Knights.

He wasn't the only local product to help Rutgers win their 15th in a row. Atlantic County Institute of Technology alum, Tony Santa Maria, hit a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, allowing Sweeney to come up two batters later.

The Absecon resident is also having a fine sophomore season, hitting .313 with eight home runs and 42 RBIs this season, playing third base for Rutgers.

Sweeney and Santa Maria are two of four Cape-Atlantic League alums playing for Rutgers. Jayson Hoopes is a redshirt sophomore from Northfield, who went to St. Augustine. Ethan Dodd is a freshman pitcher from Egg Harbor Twp.

Rutgers has now won 15 straight games, and is 30-6 overall with two Cape-Atlantic League alums helping them get there.
