First Responders Climb Steps For 24 Hours In Wildwood For 9/11

We referenced a tradition in a previous article about what you should if you see firemen at the gym on 9/11 this year dressed in full gear climbing on the stair machine.

As it turns out, it's a tradition amongst not only firemen, but all first responders in which they climb a total of 110 floors just as the first responders did in the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001.

This year, we will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on both the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. It's a day that nobody will ever forget. This year, the pain of the attacks seems even worse because it's already been twenty years and the state of the country and the world still seems to exist on rocky ground. To honor all the fallen first responders from that fateful day, local South Jersey first responders will participate in the challenge.

The Atlantic City Police Department shared a picture to their Facebook page just as some members from that department as well as other agencies and departments across the region were getting ready to start their climb. Reportedly, all those participating will climb for 24 hours as a way to honor all of their fallen first responder brothers and sisters who perished as a result of those attacks.

Eight men total will be participating in the challenge this year. As a matter of fact, it's already underway. The first responders began their climb at around 7 o'clock on the morning of September 10th and will continue through the morning of Saturday, September 11th, 2021, the 20th anniversary.

What an amazing tribute to all the fallen heroes that's going down right here in the South Jersey region.
