Galloway, NJ, police say body found may be missing 84-year-old man
Authorities in Atlantic County say a body that was found Monday may be that of a missing 84-year-old man.
Alan Levin was reported missing by his family on Saturday and his vehicle was located near the Port Republic Bridge Sunday afternoon.
According to a social media post from the Galloway Township Police Department Monday morning,
After an extensive search of the area, a drone team from the Atlantic City Police and Fire Departments located a body matching the description of Mr. Levin deceased along the bank, approximately 3/10 of a mile east of the Port Republic Bridge.
The circumstances surrounding Levin's disappearance remain under investigation by the Galloway Township Police Department and the New Jersey State Police.
Many in the community remember Levin who spent several years teaching at Absegami High School.
The scene remains active as recovery efforts are taking place and authorities have not yet positively identified the body that was found.
In addition to their officers, the Galloway Township Police Department thanked the numerous agencies that assisted them over the past few days, including state troopers, the Atlantic City Police and Fire Departments, Atlantic County Office of Emergency Management, Port Republic Office of Emergency Management, Atlantic County Sheriff's Office, the Port Republic Volunteer Fire Department, Atlantic County Search and Rescue, the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, and Camden County Search and Rescue.
