Hamilton Twp. Police Investigating Three Weekend Accidents

Cops in Hamilton Township are busy as they continue to investigate three separate accidents that happened Sunday.

The first accident happened around 9:20 Sunday morning; officers responded to Weymouth Road in the area of milepost 18.9 for a single-car crash. An investigation revealed a SUV, being driven by 49-year-old Emilio Diaz of Hammonton, was traveling southbound on Weymouth Road when he lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve. After crossing into the northbound lane, the SUV left the road, struck a guardrail and a utility pole, and then overturned. Cops say Diaz and a front seat passenger, did not sustained any injuries and were able to free themselves from the vehicle.

A half hour later, Hamilton Township Police responded to Millville Avenue in the area of Pittsburg Avenue for another crash. In this case, they say a car being driven by 34-year-old Gilberto Ruano-Somayoa of Cedarville was traveling eastbound on Millville Avenue when he lost control on a sharp bend in the road. Ruano-Somayoa did not sustain any injuries, but his passenger, 52-year-old Jeanette Santos of Prospect Park, NJ, was taken to the hospital with possible internal injuries. Ruano-Somayoa was cited for careless driving.

Later Sunday afternoon around 2:30, cops were called to Route 40 near Old Egg Harbor Road for a multi-vehicle crash. Here, a preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Chevrolet S-10, being driven by 20-year-old Rebecca Adamson of Tuckahoe, was traveling westbound on Route 40 when she crossed into the eastbound lane. Traveling eastbound, a 2017 Hyundai Sonota, being driven by 61-year-old Patti DiMartine of Mays Landing, swerved to avoid the collision and stopped in a culvert on the side of the road. A 2019 Chevrolet Trax, being driven by 20-year-old Christian Freeman of Vineland, was also traveling eastbound, and collided head-on with the Chevy S10, which caught fire as a result of the crash. Both drivers, along with an adult passenger from the Chevrolet Trax, sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for further evaluation.
