
Here’s List of Local Police Departments Targeting Texting & Driving
A number of local police departments are involved in a distracted driver effort in April.
It's called the New Jersey UDrive UText UPay campaign.
According to a new release from Eric Heitmann, Director of the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, "Beginning April 1 and running through April 21, the high visibility law enforcement initiative will target motorists who engage in dangerous distracted driving behaviors such as talking on hand-held cell phones and sending text messages while driving."
According to the New Jersey Division of Highway Safety, a number of local departments in the southeastern part of the state received grants of $5,500 to help in the crackdown. Here are the local police department that are participating:
ATLANTIC COUNTY:
*Absecon Police Department
*Atlantic City Police Department
*Egg Harbor Township Police Department
*Galloway Township Police Department
*Township of Hamilton Police Department
*Hammonton Police Department
*Northfield Police Department
*Stockton University Police Department
CAPE MAY COUNTY:
*Lower Township Police Department
*Wildwood Police Department
CUMBERLAND COUNTY:
*Bridgeton Police Department.
*Vineland Police Department (not on the state's list, but they are participating, according to Vineland PD's Facebook page.)
OCEAN COUNTY:
*Barnegat Police Department
*Harvey Cedars Police Department
*Ship Bottom Police Department
*Stafford Township Police Department
