Implosion Date Set for Former Trump Plaza Casino
A date has been reached for the demolition of part of the vacant Trump Plaza.
The main tower of the hotel will be imploded on Jan. 29, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small said in a press conference
The former casino, which Donald Trump opened in 1984 in a prime spot at the center of Atlantic City’s Boardwalk where cars exited the Atlantic City Expressway, closed in 2014.
Crews began tearing down the shuttered casino weeks ago, but parts of exterior have been blowing off of the building for years, adding to the urgency of bringing the failing structure down.
The other tower, which includes a Rainforest Café and a parking deck, will remain standing, with a final clean up expected by June 2021, according to Mayor Small.
