In New Jersey, the most popular boys names in 2020 were Liam, Noah, Lucas, Joseph (yay!), and Jacob. The two most popular boys names in the United States were also Liam and Noah,. Lucas was #8 in the country, but  Joseph and Jacob didn't make the Top 10 list nationwide.

For girls the most popular names were Olivia, Sophia, Emma, Mia, and Ava. Oliva and Emma were one and two on the national list, Sophia was #5, Mia was #8, and Ava was #3.

By the way, 50 years ago, the most popular names for boys in New Jersey were Michael, John, Robert, David, and James. The most popular girls names in 1970 were Jennifer, Lisa, Kimberly, Dawn, and Christina.
