Lower Township Police Officer Injured While Arresting Villas Man
A Lower Township Police Officer was injured while arresting a Villas man, wanted on a warrant.
Lower Township Police say the incident happened early Friday morning, when officers responded to a disorderly person complaint at the Wawa in the Villas section of the township.
According to police, here's what happened once officers arrived on the scene:
They quickly discovered that one subject had a warrant for his arrest out of Middle Township. The subject, identified as Robert G. Kassinger 29, of the Villas, was informed that he was under arrest for an outstanding warrant. He immediately fled on foot. The officers on scene pursued Mr. Kassinger quickly and were able to gain control and take him to the ground. Mr. Kassinger was arrested without further incident. During the arrest, an officer received an injury due to Mr. Kassinger’s actions. The officer was treated at Cape Regional Medical Center, and subsequently released.
The identify of the injured officer has not been released.
Kassinger faces numerous charges and is being held in the Cape May County Jail.
