The Coombs/Douglass Memorial Bay Run happened this weekend in Lower Township.

Robert Newkirk of North Cape May tells us the racing event was held at Town Bank Fire Hall on Town Bank Road in Lower Township. The race first began seventeen years ago and was formed in memory of two beloved members of the Lower Township community, Robert Coombs and David Douglass. Robert Coombs, a volunteer firefighter, was killed in a car accident. David Douglass was a police officer and volunteer firefighter who was killed in the line of duty.

Presented by the Lower Township Recreation Department, the Coombs/Douglass Memorial Bay Run consists of a 5-mile and 2-mile course. According to roadracerunner.com, both runs are along the Delaware Bay.
