It's one thing to get carjacked and your vehicle stolen. It's another thing when the assailant pushes you into the vehicle and takes you on a high-speed chase with police.

That's exactly what happened Friday afternoon to an Amazon delivery truck driver in Paterson, NJ.

The driver had stopped at an intersection, and that's when a man stepped onto the scene, pushed the driver into the truck, got behind the wheel, and took off, 6abc.com reports.

The victim reportedly thought about escaping by jumping from the moving vehicle but the suspect was driving too fast and too erratically.

Even though it must have been a harrowing ordeal, it may have benefitted the Amazon driver to have remained in the truck, because he spotted a couple of police officers and waved them down.

The criminal journey came to an end when the suspect turned the Amazon truck onto railroad tracks and got stuck. He was eventually arrested and now faces charges. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Paterson's Director of Public Safety Jerry Speziale commended the police officers for helping to bring the situation under control.
