Everybody loves the idea of adding a new furry family member.

Sure, the timing has to be right. Nobody wants a pet if they have no time for it. At least, you shouldn't be on the hunt for a cat or dog if there's no time left in your schedule to devote to one. If you've finally freed up the time to commit to a new fluffy friend, then congratulations!

My dogs are my babies. I love them more than I could ever explain. Mia, my Black Lab mix, is a mischievous girl, but so loving and affectionate. Bodie, my Belgian Malinois/Jack Russell mix, is a total mama's boy. He's sweet and loving at all times. He'll do everything he can to make sure he's around me or touching me whenever I'm home. I trip over him more times than I care to admit.

If You're A Couch Potato, Stay Away From These Dogs

I'd be lying, though, if I said they love sitting inside all day. These dogs LOVE to move. They need to be active enough to, at the very least, tire them out. That's why long walks and frequent trips outside every day are standard in my house.

Labs and Belgian Malinois breeds are known for being active. If you're more of a couch potato, they're probably not the right dog breeds for you. That doesn't mean there isn't a breed more suited to your lifestyle, though. It just means that you should steer clear of breeds that might require more physical activity if that's something you're not already interested in or practicing every day.

Do Not Adopt These Dog Breeds If You're A Couch Potato

Choosing a dog breed that requires a lot of physical activity is crucial for those with a sedentary lifestyle, as these dogs need regular exercise to maintain their health and happiness. If their energy needs aren't met, it can lead to boredom, anxiety, and destructive behaviors, creating challenges for both the dog and the owner. Nobody wants to have to rehome a dog, but if you choose a breed that's not right for you, it can easily happen.
