Buena High School Teacher Admits Having Sex with Teen Student
BUENA — A teacher who was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year student has pleaded guilty.
William J. Jacobs, 33, of Folsom, pleaded guilty to charges of official misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
Jacobs admitted to meeting the girl more than once where they engaged in sexual activities and also exchanged hundreds of electronic communications. Tyner said when Jacobs learned of the investigation into their relationship he "urged the victim not to cooperate with the investigators." He was arrested by police in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was extradited back to New Jersey to face the charges.
After the guilty plea Jacobs was released pending his sentencing on Sept. 8. Tyner encouraged anyone with information about the case to contact the prosecutor's office at 609-909-7800.
