A gift shop in Cape May says they have not yet made an official decision regarding the future of Kate Smith's "God Bless America" being played at their daily flag ceremony this summer.

In a statement faxed to WPUR on April 23rd by Sunset Beach Gift Golf and Grill, the store says, "we have not made a final decision. When we do, it will be at our discretion."

The faxed statement from the gift shop contradicts a story which appeared in NJ.com that quoted a store employee that said dropping Smith's version of the song was, "the right thing to do."

Kate Smith's performance of "God Bless America" has been banned by the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Flyers following other songs that she performed in the 1930s which some now consider to be racist.
