
Two Dogs and a Cat Die in Toms River House Fire
A cat along with two family dogs passed away following a home fire on Orchid Court in Toms River Thursday.
Toms River Police said officers and fire crews arrived on scene around 10:20 am and saw that the home was fully engulfed in flames.
Two residents of the home, were there when the fire started, but were fortunately able to safely get out and call 9-1-1.
Police evacuated nearby homes for precautionary reasons and no injuries were reported.

Toms River Animal Control rescued a cat from an adjoining home.
The fire was put under control and out by Toms River Fire Companies who prevented fleas from spreading to any adjoining homes in the complex.
The American Red Cross was on scene and provided support for the now displaced family.
Police said the cause of the fire is under investigation by Toms River Fire Inspector Charles Bauer, but is not deemed suspicious at this time.
