Police in Lower Township have arrested a man with a gun, who tried to run officers who confronted him on a New Jersey Transit bus.

According to police, they first received a call late Wednesday morning about a man with a gun in the Villas section of the township. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the man had just boarded a bus.

Police quickly boarded the bus, and made contact with the suspect, Decarlo Fleming, 50. They removed him from the bus, but he was able to escape police custody and ran. He was chased by officers, and caught. He was found to be in possession of a handgun, with ammunition.

Fleming was taken to the Cape May County Jail, where controlled substances where found as he was being searched. He faces several charges and is awaiting an appearance in court.
