Authorities in Ocean County say a Manchester Township man has been arrested for a string of events on Friday that allegedly involved a carjacking, one person being stabbed in the chest, and two people being hit by a vehicle.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer says 27-year-old Dion Marsh has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, carjacking, three counts of bias intimidation, and related weapon charges.

According to officials, around 1:15 Friday afternoon, Lakewood police officers were called to the area of Martin Luther King Dr. and Pine St. for a report of carjacking. Cops at the scene said a suspect approached the driver of a 2016 Toyota Camry, he assaulted the driver, and fled the area in that vehicle.

Around 6 PM, cops were then called to Central and Carlton Avenues in Lakewood for the report of a person who has been struck by a dark-colored vehicle. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Less than a hour later, Lakewood cops were then called to Pine Circle Drive and Lakewood-New Egypt Road for a man who had been stabbed in the chest. That victim was taken to a hospital where he was last listed in critical but stable condition.

By 8:20 PM, officers with the Jackson Township Police Department responded to a 911 call for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the area of Galassi Court. Officials say that person was hit by the same vehicle that was taken in the carjacking incident in Lakewood earlier that. That victim is also hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

An investigation conducted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, "revealed that Marsh was responsible for all of these criminal acts."

Late Friday night, detectives arrested Marsh at his home in Manchester Township without incident.

Billhimer said in a statement,

Our investigation reveals that these criminal acts were committed throughout the day yesterday into the early evening and that Marsh was acting alone and not in concert with anyone else. I’m grateful for the collaborative efforts of every police officer and detective that worked swiftly to identify Marsh and bring him into custody without further injury to anyone.

Marsh is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
