Woman in Critical Condition After Ocean Rescue in Atlantic City

One woman is in critical condition and another woman suffered a broken leg after a water rescue at Rhode Island Avenue beach in Atlantic City Monday evening.

The women were swimming near the jetty shortly before the police were called.

According to NJ.com,

Lifeguards had gone off duty minutes before a 911 call was placed at 6:08 p.m. A severe thunderstorm approaching the area made the rescue more challenging for emergency responders, the report said.

The woman is in critical condition at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
