Two Atlantic County Softball dads are facing charges in Maryland after fighting each other at a girls' softball travel team tournament in Maryland.

The fight between Michael Barbella, 48, of Ventnor and Michael John Duffy, 45, of Mays Landing, occurred outside Maryland's Wicomico County Youth and Civic Center, according to a detailed description published by LowerEasternShoreNews.com.

Police were called out to the center Wednesday evening, in reference to a call about the fight. According to the story:

The deputy learned that Barbella had been involved in an altercation with another individual, Michael Duffy, that turned into a heated mutual physical altercation between the pair. During the investigation the deputy learned that the altercation stemmed from a previous problem which prompted Barbella to travel to Wicomico County to confront Duffy and other parents from a travel softball team.

During the investigation, the deputy was shown text messages sent by Barbella earlier in the day that appeared to be Barbella challenging Duffy to a physical altercation.
Both Barbella and Duffy were placed under arrest and transported to the Central Booking Unit where they were processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Barbella in lieu of $20,000.00 bond while Duffy was released on Personal Recognizance.
*Personal Note: No word on who the idiot was that did the filming of the video - and then, apparently,  decided to sell it to the website deadspin.com. Rather than jump in and try to stop the fight, the guy with the phone just kept the camera rolling, providing commentary along the way.
