Police in Stafford Township performed a motor vehicle stop on a box truck on Route 72 Monday afternoon, and it resulted in an Absecon man being arrested in connection with a series of shoplifting offenses.

Police say they stopped the U-Haul truck about 3:30pm Monday. The driver, Santos Lugo III of Absecon was placed under arrest for an active warrant from Absecon Municpial Court.

A subsequent investigation found that Lugo was in possession of some $3,000 worth of floor tiles. Police say those tiles were stolen from "the Lowes store in Brick Township and Lugo attempted to return them in the Manahawkin Lowes for store credit."
