Brain Food: Are You Eating Right as You Age?
According AARP, the food we eat may have a lot to do with the health of our brain as we age.
Here’s some of the foods that can help protect your grey matter:
- Vitamin E in avocados and nuts could reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease.
- B-complex vitamins, found in enriched grains and cereal may help protect against brain shrinkage.
- The antioxidant Vitamin C, in citrus fruit, may protect against dementia-related brain plaque.
- And the omega-3 fatty acids in wild cold water fish reduce inflammation and boost memory.
Finally, as Popeye would say – eat your spinach – it is packed with at least 15 different antioxidant compounds which could slow the effects of Alzheimer's disease.
Bottom line, a better diet leads to a better brain.
