Bridgeton Man Stopped for DWI, Arrested for Drugs and Gun

New Jersey State Police made a traffic stop Saturday evening in Cumberland County, and ended up charging a Bridgeton man with several serious offenses.

State Police say just after 9pm Saturday they stopped Billy Flagg, 30, of Bridgeton, who was driving on State Highway 77 in Upper Deerfield Township, Cumberland County.

The Trooper quickly assessed that Flagg was under the influence and arrested him for DWI. A subsequent search found that Flagg "was in possession of a 9mm handgun, hollow point ammunition, $400 worth of heroin, and more than $2,500 cash." He also had a criminal warrant out of Upper Deerfield Township.

He was arrested and is being held in the Cumberland County Jail, pending a hearing.

State Police say Flagg has been charged with "unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, prohibited weapons, possession of a firearm while committing a CDS crime, certain persons not to have a firearm, criminal under the influence, and DWI."

The incident remains under investigation.
