The last thing I expected to find during my Sunday Target run was a bunch of local bikers pulling a Christmas sleigh. So, I had to meet them and find out what they're all about.

As I was loading my purchases into my car at Consumer Square in Mays Landing, I noticed a group of riders, just hanging out talking, and attached to one of their motorcycles was a big red sleigh.

Naturally, I asked if I could take a photo with it, and they obliged. Then, I struck up a conversation with a biker named Helen and her other rider friends, and found out that the sleigh is something they pull around South Jersey and beyond all Christmas season to spread cheer to places like Children's Hospital.

They're part of a riding group called Country Cruisers, a non-profit organization who's mission is to give to those in need in the community. They hold annual events for suicide awareness, animals in need, breast cancer awareness, child abuse, many veterans causes and, this time of year, Toys for Tots. They also support local police, fire, and EMT's, Police Athletic League, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and many other important organizations.

It was a chance encounter that lead to me meeting some great people who are doing good for the community. Another part of the Country Cruisers Riding Group's mission statement that really caught my attention is their inclusivity. They welcome riders from all walks of life to join them, no matter their race, gender, religion, or ethnicity.

One more thing. Through December 15th, The Country Cruisers are collecting funds to help put gifts under the tree of one local family in need. If you'd like to donate, you can visit them on Facebook, or email countrycruisers@comcast.net.

Thanks again to Country Cruisers Riding Group for letting me grab a photo with your festive sleigh!
