Dogs Found That Attacked and Killed Dog on Leash in Barnegat

Two pit bulls that attacked and killed a dog being walked on a leash have been identified and found.

Barnegat Police say the incident happened Sunday near Redwood Drive.

A local woman was walking her dog when the two pit bulls attacked and killed her dog. Two people who tried to intervene were also injured.

Police have identified the dogs' owner as Angela Greco, 60 of Barnegat Township. Police say when initially confronted about the dogs, Greco provided officers with false information.

As for the dogs, they are being held in quarantine at the Popcorn Park Zoo.

Police say that Greco has been charged with charged with  Obstructing the Administration of Law, Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, and 2 Township Ordinances for Leash Requirements. They say additional charges are pending investigation by the township's Humane Law Enforcement Officer.
