A 55-year-old woman from Dorothy, who police say was not wearing a seat belt, was killed in a crash on Route 40 in Mays Landing around lunchtime Monday.

Hamilton Township Police responded to a crash on Route 40 near Cologne Avenue around 12:15 Monday afternoon. An investigation revealed a car driven by a 55-year-old woman from Dorothy was traveling westbound on Route 40 when the vehicle crossed the center line and sideswiped an eastbound van being driven by 22-year-old Emma Fellers of Egg Harbor Township. After the impact, cops say the car continued about a half mile on Route 40 before leaving the road and hitting several trees.

The unidentified female was transported to ARMC-Mainland where she was pronounced dead. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family. Fellers was uninjured in the crash, which remains under investigation.
